What Customers Are Saying

“You couldn’t find a better field testing environment than a high school shop class. Despite this merciless abuse, this saw cut perfectly accurate” – Mikal

“Everything about this saw is sturdy, and all the adjustments can be made with very little effort.” – Bemace M.

The Dewalt DW715 has received a lot of positive attention from online reviews and from online consumers alike. Almost all of these sources agree that out of all of its wonderful features, its most desirable trait is its durability. Many of the consumers that used this saw did so on a daily basis, some in a classroom setting. The type of daily abuse that a tool sees when used on a regular basis can place a lot of stress on it, but when that tool is being used to teach high school kids how to perform a task every day, it is a different type of stress altogether. The fact that this tool could withstand it says something.

This 12-inch saw is the same price as many 10-inch saws, has many of the same features, and plenty of durability to boot. This is a great saw that will take loads of abuse and is extremely simple and user-friendly.

Previously DeWalt had a detachable panel that allowed users to hook an LED/Laser up to their saw to act as a guide. This was discontinued from type 2 to type 3, and this has been a source of contention for most users. The lack of laser support has disappointed most, and many consumers actually recommended that they make the laser a permanent fixture on the saw instead of an option. This was the only consistent complaint about the saw, and hopefully DeWalt will address this.

Pros:

  • Extremely durable
  • Quality factory blade
  • Fairly user-friendly
  • Two-direction miter
  • Dust collector works well
  • Amazingly accurate
  • Positive stops make reading angles simpler
  • Sturdy, solid, and well-built

Cons:

  • No longer supports LED/Laser attachment
  • Heavy
  • A little on the noisy side

Recommendation

The DeWalt DW715 miter saw is an exceptionally durable saw that can withstand the rigors of a high school wood-shop, construction work sites, or just about any other high stress environment that you can place a miter saw. The bevels and miters are incredibly accurate, and the factory blade is actually of decent quality. This saw is perfect for almost anyone given its versatility and durability. If that isn’t enough, the price and exceptional warranty should be the push needed to convince someone that this is the saw for them.
